We are developing new processes and analysis techniques in Chemistry and Pharmacy
Cutting-edge research requires both state-of-the-art equipment as well as novel methods to push the frontiers of what is currently possible. Highest level methods are developed and clearly a driving force at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy covering a wide range: from synthetic methods, over spectroscopic methods to theoretical methods.
Examples include super-resolution optical microscopy for dynamically visualizing movements of single biomolecules at the nanometer scale, spectroscopic methods for key processes in energy conversion, electron microscopy with minimal sample damage for gaining insights into biomolecules including protein complexes, novel theoretical methods for understanding and analyzing large and complex systems including reaction networks, highest-level analytical methods for characterization down to atomic resolution, ... just to mention a few. The advancements constantly push the boundaries of what is achievable for studying chemical and biochemical systems, as well as materials with a wide range of applications.
